Specworx®: A world-first real-time ironmongery specification

A brief demonstration on Specworx® and Specworx Viewer®:

Ironmongery Warehouse Africa developed Specworx® and Specworx Viewer®, a world-first real-time ironmongery specification program that allows BIM asset data to be integrated into all stages of the asset lifecycle process.

Specify → Revise → Supply → Install → Archive

Basic Overview of Specworx®:

Our Specworx® programme uses the intelligence within Autodesk® Revit® to identify the tagged doors and extract all of their type and instance parameters, including their Mark & Type Mark. This is valuable for the Ironmongery Specifier during the evolution of the project, as it minimises errors when doors are added, deleted, or changed.

Basic Overview of Specworx Viewer® for Revit:

You as the Project Architect (professional) can navigate and view what Ironmongery is specified to each door (see image below – pink crosshair).

• This is done by either double-clicking on the door in the report (red highlighted cell) or selecting the green or red overlay on the door itself on the floor plan (see image above – pink crosshair).

• Navigation can be done in Autodesk® Revit® or by opening the dwfx’s, that we will provide back to you in the .sprnx file.

Specworx® functionality includes the ability to comment per Ironmongery Recipe or per Door, which is useful between revisions (see image above – green highlighted cell). This is a user-friendly way of digitally recording queries and changes throughout the lifespan of the project.

Specworx Viewer® is a Windows-based stand-alone application that “talks to” Autodesk® Revit® (versions 2017 to 2022). It is not a Plug-In or Add-In which therefore adds no weight to your Autodesk® Revit® Model, nor can it compromise it in any way.
