Enhancing Commercial Spaces in Africa: Bank of Botswana
Welcome to our project spotlight series, where we highlight some of our most significant and challenging ventures. Today, we’re focusing on the recently completed Bank of Botswana project in Gaborone, Botswana.
Timeline and Tools
Our journey with the Bank of Botswana began in 2018, culminating in 2024. This extensive project was designed using Revit and specified through our Specworx programme. Specworx was instrumental in providing the entire project team, regardless of location, with access to all pertinent project information, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficiency.
Cross-Border Collaboration
Managing a cross-border project comes with its unique set of challenges. However, through numerous phone calls, Zoom meetings, and sporadic site visits, Ironmongery Warehouse successfully navigated these challenges. We were responsible for the specifying and supply of ironmongery to the site, a task that required meticulous planning and coordination.
Key Challenges and Solutions
One of the critical requirements for this financial facility was an intricate master key system. Achieving this required extensive collaboration between the client, architect, and specifier. Together, we developed a master key layout that met the security needs of the Bank of Botswana.
To mitigate issues of theft, loss, or installation confusion, all ironmongery for the timber doors was meticulously packed door by door. This approach ensured that the contractor could install the ironmongery accurately and efficiently.
For the aluminium doors, ironmongery was issued to shopfitters based in South Africa. This strategic decision facilitated smoother production and installation, allowing us and the shopfitters to address any concerns before the stock crossed the border.
Beyond Ironmongery
In addition to ironmongery, Ironmongery Warehouse was tasked by Stefanutti Stocks Botswana with the pricing and supply of sanitaryware. Collaborating closely with Franke, we ensured that their specifications were met and executed flawlessly.
Success Metrics
Staying within budget was a crucial aspect of this project, and we are proud to say that the ironmongery costs remained within the allocated budget. This financial success, combined with the timely and accurate delivery of all materials, contributed to the overall success of the project.
The Bank of Botswana project is a testament to Ironmongery Warehouse’s capability to manage complex, cross-border commercial projects. Through effective collaboration, innovative problem-solving, and meticulous planning, we delivered a successful project that met all client specifications and requirements.
